Drawings from a Garden

This book includes drawings of trees in inhabited neighbourhoods. The text that supplements it reveals what is visible in their form, exposing scars from having been pruned and shaped. There is a difference between how a tree would grow on its own and how it grows in response to these interventions. Together, they speculate on the community’s desire to control and manage landscapes, whilst longing for a relationship with the wilderness.
